Bruce  Higley

Bruce Higley has been working with wood since he was twelve years old. He has lived and worked in NYC, four New England states, Saudi Arabia and Washington, DC. In 1980, Bruce traveled from Saudi Arabia to Bennington, Vermont to learn from master woodworker Ian Kirby. Five years later he and his wife Kate returned to America, specifically Durham, NH. There he enrolled part time at UNH with woodworker, Dan Valenza.

Bruce’s work is characterized by highly original, artful designs that combine several wood species. As an engineer, he enjoys the challenges of complex joinery. These features become visibly intrinsic to each piece.
