Steve Lewis is a retired professional photographer who now devotes his creative energy to
personal projects centered around uniquely American icons. His work focuses on the
beauty and nostalgia of neon signs and vintage American cars, capturing the cultural
essence of these subjects with a contemporary lens. From his studio in Exeter, NH, Steve
continues to explore and express his passion for the stories embedded in American visual
history.
With a BFA from Oregon State University and an MFA from the Rhode Island School of
Design, Steve’s work has been widely recognized and published in esteemed publications
such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Boston Magazine. His work has
also been featured in Oprah Magazine and Filmmakers Magazine and is associated with
notable figures such as Frederick Wiseman and John Lee Hooker, having made the
photographic portrait for the album cover for Hooker's iconic "Mr. Lucky."
