Steve Arcone

I’m a retired geophysicist, having specialized in using ground-penetrating radar to image the subsurface structure of glaciers. Since retirement I have sought to merge science and art in my abstract landscape macrophotography, primarily of exotic ice formations on ponds, brooks and even puddles, and unique perspectives of New England foliage, such as seen within thin ice and spider webs. Motivated by curiosity, I seek images of unique phenomenon that may appear as if created rather than photographed. I want viewers to tell me what they see within my scenes. Imost appreciate those who linger in exploration and hopefully find something I haven’t. I’m a juried member of The League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and The New Hampshire Photographic Society. My images appeared in six group exhibitions in 2024 and early 2025, Northern Woodlands magazine (Autumn 2023), Smoky Quartz literary magazine (Spring 2024), and in the Geologic Society of America 2024 calendar.
