What Art Means to me:  Expression, Connection, Reflection, Therapy, Love

How I came to create Art:
Growing up in Northern New Hampshire, I was surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountains and all the secrets they hold. Art is everywhere; I am a naturally curious Artist. I love being out in the woods listening to the wind, seeing rays of sunshine peak thru the canopy of leaves. Many of my paintings are inspired by images I have seen while enjoying the natural beauty of forests and water.

The self title of "Artist" became part of my identity early on in my life. As an adult, I feel blessed having had a supportive Grandfather, who himself made a living through Maritime Art. He encouraged me to think like an artist. He financially supported my journey; buying art supplies and a small library of books. He encouraged me to explore all different mediums and styles, and to "Think Outside the Lines".

What happens to me while creating Art:
Creating art is more than just sitting putting paint on a canvas. To me, it's a practice my body and mind utilize, to regulate and process past and present experiences. While painting, I am often "In the Zone" body and mind working together, piecing together the feeling and creating what is contained in my mind.

Like many Artists, I see images in my head. There are times when I feel the NEED to transfer these images onto canvas. Once the base layer is on the canvas, my mind typically settles and then the magic begins.

My recent works highlight nature and Textures. As an Artist, I enjoy creating beautiful Landscapes with up-cycled and recycled items.

Sharing my Artwork with the world has been scary and exciting. Seeing someone connect with a piece of artwork is something pretty magical, as if they find a piece of themselves hidden within the art.

Stepping out of the shadows of self doubt, and integrating into the Seacoast Art scene has been an amazing journey; The Artist Community is like no other: Supportive, Encouraging, Diverse.
